Nation is observing Birth Day of Shahid Udham Singh ( Ram Mohmad Singh Azad), one of the bravest martyrs of Hindustan.He was greatly anguished to see the massacre of Indians at Jallianwalla Bagh, where more than 2500 people, including men, women and children killed by British Army and Police on April 13,1919 at Amritsar(Punjab),while holding a public meeting to protest against the Rowllat Act, draconian Black Act , which snatched the right of citizen,the Right to Vakeel(Advocate), Daleel (Pleading) and Appeal.
It was the bitterest attack on our freedom struggle after the brutal crushing of Ghadar Movement in Punjab leading to the hanging to Ghadar heroes Kartar Singh Sarabha and Vishnu Ganesh Pingle and many others.It was Udham Singh Sunam,from Jind Riyast, who as a student at a Anathalya( Orphanage) Amritsar , who was the eye witness of this horrible massacre, who had lost his mother, father, and a lonely brother in childhood, vowed to avenge this dishonor of Nation
Udham Singh,as a student of Engineering at London, shot dead Sir Michel Odyer, the notorious Governor of Punjab responsible for Jallianwalla Massacre,in Buxtor Hall London,on March 13,1940 .When he was asked his Name and Address , he replied "Ram Mohmad Singh Azad" as a symbol of united will of Hindustan , and was hanged with that name in the middle of 1940 giving an clarion call to Indians especially youth to continue united struggle of Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs to win freedom, but his cherished dream of freedom was frustrated by pro- British forces leading to divided Independence on August 15,1947 with a trail bloodshed.
While observing his Birth Day today all patriotic forces in India should pledge to honour the message of Ram Mohmad Singh Azad (Shaheed Udham Singh) to defeat the divisive forces to maintain the unity and integrity of the country, which was secured by the high numbers of the sacrifices made by our patriots.
